Camping Pizza in 2026: Stovetop Systems or a Dedicated Oven?

Pizza at a campsite can begin with two different equipment decisions: use a system approved for a stove already in your kit, or pack a dedicated portable pizza oven.

A September 2026 announcement brings the first approach into focus. RV News reported that Omnia had introduced a Stovetop Pizza Oven for RVs, camper vans, and off-grid trips. The report describes a system that uses an existing stovetop without electricity and makes individual pizzas in under ten minutes. Read the RV News announcement.

The launch adds another format for travelers to investigate. Choosing between formats starts with the complete kit you would take on the trip.

Consider What You Already Carry

A stove-based system may appeal if you already travel with a compatible cooking appliance. Before choosing one, confirm the manufacturer’s approved stove types and operating conditions.

A dedicated pizza oven creates a separate cooking station. That may suit travelers who make pizza frequently and want to plan their meals around the oven.

Neither approach should be judged by the main appliance alone. Include all required equipment when comparing storage space, cost, and setup.

Compare the Full Packing List

For either format, account for fuel equipment, cookware, food-handling tools, preparation supplies, and protective storage.

Our 12-inch Pellet Pizza Oven compatible with gas and electric attachments lists a weight of 24.9 pounds, folding legs, and a removable chimney. Those features give buyers specific details to consider when planning transport.

The compatible gas burner and electric heater attachments are sold separately. The equipment required for a trip depends on the selected configuration, so the oven’s listed body weight should not be treated as the weight of the complete travel kit.

Match the Cooking Format to the Group

The Omnia announcement describes individual pizzas. Dedicated pizza ovens have their own size limits and cooking processes.

Think about how your group prefers to eat. Sharing each pizza as it finishes can work well for a relaxed evening. Serving separate meals together requires a different plan.

Allow for preparation, preheating, baking, and intervals between batches. A short advertised baking time does not describe the total time needed to feed everyone.

Keep Compatibility Specific

Omnia’s launch does not establish compatibility with Big Horn camping stoves. Any stove-and-accessory combination needs approval in the relevant product instructions.

For a dedicated oven, check the approved fuel, support surface, operating location, and transport requirements. Confirm current campsite cooking restrictions before leaving, and plan sufficient cooling time before packing.

These checks help determine whether the setup fits a short overnight trip, a longer RV stay, or a car-camping weekend.

Choose Around the Trips You Take

The useful question is which arrangement fits your storage, group size, and preferred cooking routine.
