I always wanted a Santa Maria and enjoy grilling steaks. The problem is that I’m worried how long will it last. As you cans see in the pictures the lower part is getting warped with the heat and the tray has to be shoved to get it in place. As far as grilling, I love it.
My Grill broke right at the start of my BBQ, it broke as soon as I placed some steaks on the grill. I contacted customer service for a replacement part I’m still waiting to hear back.
Easy to put together and works like expected. I lined the bottom and the sides with fire bricks. These will protect the metal as well as re-direct the heat upwards towards the grills and the meat. I wish that the grills were suspended within a frame and the frame hooked up to the cables that raise it up and down. That would make cleaning the grills so much easier - and also it would make it truer to real Argentinian grills. If you upgrade it like that I might buy a new one.
The grill were you cook the meat it doesn’t cook correctly because of the bars there I’m argentino and the grill does not look like a grill from Argentina. The charcoal falls through the cracks too… can I get a refund Sorry
Works great. Easy to put together. Still figuring out how much wood I need for each cook. I have cooked steak, sausage, salmon and vegetables on it. All turned out great.
Quality materials. Easy assembly. Works great. I would like to also mention the customer service during the purchase. There was a discount code I failed to add during checkout. I received a purchase confirmation email and replied back that I missed applying the discount code - and BigHorn refunded me that amount. That's not something every business would do.
Good value on a santa maria grill, but the spacing in the grill grate is much smaller than what I'm used to (growung up in South America with only Santa Maria style grills). The smaller spacing makes it difficult to feel out the temperature of the fire with the hand over the grill.
I would rather pay extra next time and have a grill with refractory brick base for the wood/charcoal and a gated acced to feed the fire.
On the positive note, it gets the job done, serviceable santa Maria Grill at a low price, the picanhas are coming out great after an adjustment period.
The grill is a great starter grill. Honestly, I don’t see it holding it for long term. The wheel that lifts the grate up isn’t the most secure and during grilling will fall down. And this grill, when received was dented so the assembly was quite difficult. Overall though, would recommend this grill to folks who will only grill every once in a while and would recommend a sturdier grill for those who want to grill more often
The food got really stuck and its hard to clean. Grate looks terrible. Can't find the right scrubber for it. Y'all dont sell it, neither a cover for it!
Good value. Easy to put together. Great packaging and good instructions . The grate does not extend very high, so it can be difficult to place and start briquette chimney. The grilling surface looks cool and does keep grease controlled, but sometimes you want that flare-up to sear your meat. Overall I would recommend
The negative things are that the stainless steel grid is horrible A simple grill will do much better. Also, there are no fire Bricks the great thing about this barbecue is it price?
I bought this to see if I would like it and I do very much. I’ve learned I want a different cooking surface and an opening door to move fire around while grate is low.
